Singer and actor Petula Sally Olwen Clark was born November 15, 1932 in Epsom, Surrey, England. Petula Clark is a British singer, actress and composer of Welsh and English parentage, best known for her upbeat popular international hits of the 1960s. With nearly 70 million recordings sold worldwide, Petula Clark is the most successful British female solo recording artist to date. Petula Clark also holds the distinction of having the longest span on the international pop charts of any artist with 51 years from 1954 to 2005. Petula Clark's first trip to the charts where when "The Little Shoemaker" made the UK Top Twenty, and the strecth ended with her 2005-CD, L'essentiel - 20 Succès Inoubliables charted in Belgium.
Among Petula Clarks greatest hits are such songs as DownTown (1964), Don't sleep in the subway (1967), Sailor (1961) and This is My Song (1967) that all went number one in either UK or US.
Although Petula Clark don't act anymore she is still active as a singer. Petula Clark still releases songs and hopefully she will continue for a long time yet.
